Macy’s boast a new look with the customer in mind

Over the past decade, shopping malls have undergone design changes to better serve consumers. The new trend in shopping malls is the outdoors, street market style which is popping up across the country.

Traditionally, Macy’s has been an anchor store for enclosed in-door shopping malls. Moving along with the trends, Macy’s is launching a new type of store designed to better fit open air malls.

Macy’s is known for being the affordable luxury department store. The new designs boost this consumer attracting asset by adding more lounge areas, skylights, and internet cafes.

The retailer has designed the new store concept with customer experience in mind. Store atmospheres which attracts consumers to lounge and relax will keep them shopping longer. Macy also takes advantage of the outside space by using large windows for shoppers to peer in. The space will serve as a great place to put in store advertising or highlight the current promotion, which will reach in store shoppers and passers by.

Macy’s move to redesign the stores layout to better fit the needs of open air shopping malls will keep the retailer as the affordable luxury brand. Utilizing the store front space to increase the customer experience will be a long run advantage.

How do you think the changing mall designs are effecting customer experience?
